I like that design better too, if it were only about double the size. Bulli was well laid out, but I think it was pegged at the size of the 1st gen Xb

needs less 2001 and more 2015. But I like the idea. VW has been teasing us with a van for years but there are 2 huge problems:

1. It costs VW a lot to make a van for the US

2. People don't pay premium car prices for vans.

The Bulli was a test to see how people would respond to a niche nostalgia van (you may not its only a 5 seater and is electric) and it was determined that even as a high markup niche vehicle, it didn't make sense financially.

The reason we got the routan is because it was a very cost effective way to gauge the market for a van in the US. I doubt we will ever see a true German VW van again in the US. If anything it will be a special American version (built in Mexico) based on the modular architecture and look nothing like the nostalgic we've been seeing.
